About The Thompson Family
The Thompson website was started with information given to me by my
grandfather, James M. Thompson, Sr. He and his wife, Doris, had traveled
extensively to visit with relatives and learn about his ancestors. Family was
very important to him during his life. He strongly encouraged us to attend
Price Family reunions when I was a small child. (Sarah Price was his mother.)
Years later, my sister, Linda Blackman, and I joined our parents and our
children in attending an Ellis Family reunion at Lake Arrowhead in Oklahoma.
(Nina Ellis was my father's mother.) After the death of my grandfather, I
endeavored to add to the already long list of family members. I began
corresponding with several relatives who were also interested in learning more
about our family. My father, James M. Thompson, Jr., and I took oral histories
in Arkansas and visited court houses in Howard and Sevier counties in
Arkansas. In 1974, my husband, Fred, and I visited living relatives in Georgia
and the gravesites of deceased relatives there. Shortly after that, my son,
Lee, was born and the research project took a back seat for the next 32 years
while Lee was growing up, getting married to Britany Webb, and adding a new
leaf on the tree, Rylee Grace Davis, in 2005. Following the deaths of my
parents in 2005, interest resurfaced in this tribute to all the special people
in our family. Of course, our family tree is very extensive, so you see many
names besides Thompson here.
As mentioned before, my grandfather passed on several files loaded with much
information. However, Raymond Ellis, who lived in Fayetteville, AR, until his
death, is the champion genealogist of our family. Ray spearheaded the Ellis
reunions in Oklahoma that were grand times! He collected, researched, and
shared pages and pages of information about that family branch, and I am
personally indebted to and amazed by his dedication to family.
I hope you will enjoy this website. Feel free to email your comments and
suggestions to me. Let me know if I need to make corrections and when I need
to make additions to this fine old "tree." Be sure to sign the guest book!
